Political journey and party leadership

Oborevwori also reflected on the late senator’s political background, describing his rise as one shaped by experience, resilience, and loyalty to democratic ideals. He noted that Nwaoboshi served two terms as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, a role in which he helped shape party structures and political strategy.

According to the governor, the former senator devoted his life to public service, both as a party leader and as a representative of his people, leaving behind what he described as a legacy of courage and commitment.

Political observers in the state say Nwaoboshi’s death creates a noticeable gap in Delta North politics, given his long-standing influence and familiarity with grassroots mobilization.

Governor extends condolences

Oborevwori said the state government stood with the family and political associates of the late lawmaker during the difficult period.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” the governor said.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the people of Anioma nation, members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and all those whose lives he touched.”

He prayed for the repose of the senator’s soul and asked God to grant strength to those left behind to cope with the loss.
