Grammy winning singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has dismissed online claims placing his net worth at $22 million, describing the figure as far from accurate.
The Afrobeats star addressed the issue during a recent interview after being shown Google search results that listed his estimated wealth at $22 million. According to him, the number does not reflect his true financial standing. However, he said he has no problem with the public underestimating how much he is worth.
“Let them say that. That’s cool. I like that one,” Burna Boy said with a laugh. He added that the figure was “way off,” while noting that he considers it a blessing to be in a position where he can change his family’s life and support other people financially.
According to reports, Burna Boy’s reaction aligns with his spending patterns in 2025, which have drawn widespread attention. The singer recently became the first African to acquire a 2025 Lamborghini Revuelto, a luxury car valued at over ₦1.5 billion, or about $600,000.
Meanwhile, industry sources say his car collection is now estimated at close to ₦19 billion, roughly $13 million, and includes rare and high end models such as a McLaren Senna Carbon Fibre Edition and a Ferrari Purosangue. Music analysts note that such purchases point to income streams that extend beyond music sales, including global touring, endorsements, and investments.
The interview comes at a time when Burna Boy has also been in the news for reasons beyond his wealth. During his “No Sign of Weakness” tour at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, he faced criticism after stopping his performance to call out a fan seated in the front row who appeared to be sleeping.
According to footage shared online, the singer said the sight annoyed him, sparking mixed reactions from fans on social media. While some defended his actions, others argued that the response was unnecessary.
Despite the controversy, Burna Boy remains one of Africa’s most commercially successful artists, with a global audience and a career that continues to generate debate, admiration, and significant financial success.
