Peugeot is preparing to unveil the refreshed 408 at the Brussels Motor Show, scheduled from January 9 to 18, 2026. The updated model promises to bring a new level of style and sophistication to the popular family car, according to Auto Express.
While Peugeot has released few details about the facelift, it is clear the 408’s signature sharp lines will be further refined, with enhancements at both the front and rear. Observers expect the new design to echo the sharper, more aggressive styling seen on the updated Peugeot 308.
Exterior Updates
The facelifted 408 is anticipated to feature a redesigned front mask, highlighted by a large, illuminated Peugeot badge. One of the most noticeable changes may be the removal of the distinctive canine-shaped daytime running lights, which have long been a hallmark of Peugeot’s design. Other subtle tweaks are expected to include revised bumpers, updated wheel designs, and refreshed taillights, giving the car a more modern presence without straying too far from its original character.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the 408 is likely to retain much of its current layout. Auto experts suggest the cabin could see minor updates such as improved graphics on the digital displays and additional premium features in higher-spec variants. “The interior refresh is expected to focus on subtle luxury rather than a full redesign,” noted a European automotive analyst.
Powertrain and Performance
Mechanically, the facelifted 408 is expected to carry over the existing engine options. The base petrol model delivers 143 bhp from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid version is rated at 193 hp and offers an electric-only range of around 80 kilometers. Meanwhile, the fully electric Peugeot E-408 could receive a larger battery pack, potentially increasing its range from 450 kilometers to approximately 480 kilometers, further boosting its appeal to environmentally conscious drivers.
Looking Ahead
The 2026 Peugeot 408 facelift aims to strengthen the model’s position in the competitive family car segment, blending refined design updates with practical performance enhancements. With the Brussels Motor Show as its stage, Peugeot is expected to showcase a car that balances style, efficiency, and modern technology, appealing to both loyal customers and new buyers.
