The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State has uncovered a warehouse used for storing illegal substances and seized a substantial quantity of Cannabis Sativa hidden inside a vehicle in Abeokuta.
According to Haris Musa, the NDLEA’s Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, the discovery occurred around 10:00 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in the Rounder area of the city.
Musa stated that the operation, carried out following actionable intelligence, resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Fatokun Rahmon. Officers recovered a total of 347 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa concealed within a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck.
“Acting on precise intelligence, operatives conducted a targeted operation in Rounder, Abeokuta, where they uncovered a warehouse used for storing illicit substances,” Musa said. “During the operation, the vehicle was found carrying a significant quantity of Cannabis Sativa. One suspect, Fatokun Rahmon, was arrested, and 347 kilograms of the drug were seized.”
The NDLEA spokesperson emphasized that the operation demonstrates the agency’s commitment to intelligence-driven enforcement and vigilance in tackling drug trafficking, even as the year came to an end.
Experts in law enforcement and drug control note that targeted operations like this are critical in disrupting organized networks and preventing illegal substances from reaching communities. Dr. Tunde Olawale, a criminologist, said, “Late-year operations are often designed to prevent traffickers from exploiting holiday periods when law enforcement may be less visible. Seizing such a large quantity sends a strong deterrent message.”
Musa reiterated that the agency remains determined to sustain its efforts to curb illicit drug trafficking and abuse throughout Ogun State.
