A 12-year-old girl has been confirmed as the only survivor of a devastating plane crash that killed 152 people, including her mother, according to emergency officials involved in the rescue operation.

The aircraft went down in the sea under circumstances that are still being investigated. Search teams initially feared there would be no survivors. However, nearly nine hours after the crash, rescuers discovered the young girl alive, clinging to pieces of floating debris in rough waters.

Hours Adrift in Open Water

According to rescue authorities, the child managed to stay afloat by holding onto wreckage from the aircraft as waves battered the crash site. Despite sustaining multiple injuries, she reportedly remained conscious throughout the ordeal.

Medical teams said she was suffering from hypothermia when she was pulled from the water, a condition caused by prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. She was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, where doctors confirmed she is now in stable condition and receiving treatment.

An emergency responder involved in the operation described the survival as extraordinary, noting that sea conditions were harsh and visibility was limited for much of the night.

No Other Survivors Found

Officials confirmed that all other passengers and crew members on board the flight were killed in the crash. Among the victims was the girl’s mother, who had been traveling with her at the time of the incident.

According to aviation authorities, recovery teams have since located additional wreckage, but no further survivors were found. The focus of the operation has now shifted from rescue to recovery.

Investigation Underway

A full investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Aviation safety experts said it is too early to determine what led to the aircraft going down, although data from flight recorders and wreckage analysis is expected to provide crucial answers.

An aviation analyst, speaking to local media, explained that survival in open water after an air crash is extremely rare, especially for such an extended period. The expert added that the girl’s ability to remain calm and cling to debris likely played a critical role in saving her life.

Authorities said they will release further updates as more information becomes available.
